From Half Day to Full Experience: Extended Day Program

Extend your child’s learning day at Guidepost Hong Kong with our Extended Day Program, designed for the Toddler Program (ages 2 to 3 years) and Children’s House Program (ages 3 to 6 years). Tailored to each age group, the afternoon sessions extend learning beyond the morning hours to enhance focus, deepen understanding, build confidence, and support primary readiness through targeted academic enrichment.

In the afternoon sessions, children also participate in a range of engaging activities, for example:

  • Art and crafts
  • Language development (Mandarin, English, and Korean)
  • Music and movement
  • Physical education
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Basic cooking skills

Activities vary depending on campus and program schedules.

These experiences foster creativity, communication, physical well-being, and emotional resilience, promoting well-rounded growth.

Our Extended Day Program combines focused learning with enjoyable enrichment activities to support your child’s intellectual, social, and emotional development. Contact us to secure your child’s place and enrich their educational journey.

Our Specialty Classes in Extended Day

In our Art & Craft sessions, children are invited to explore their creativity through hands-on, process-based experiences that nurture imagination, focus, and fine-motor development. Each month, the class focuses on a particular theme or artistic skill such as color exploration, collage, sculpture, or printmaking, giving children the chance to work with different materials and techniques in meaningful ways.

Children learn how to use tools to create art, combine textures and colors, and express ideas visually while building patience, concentration, and confidence in their abilities. Rather than emphasizing a perfect finished product, our approach celebrates the process of discovery, the joy of mixing, layering, and experimenting as they bring their ideas to life.

In our Cooking sessions, children explore the joy of preparing food through sensory-rich, hands-on experiences that nurture independence, coordination, and cultural appreciation. Each month, the class focuses on a specific continent, allowing children to discover global flavors, ingredients, and cooking traditions while practicing essential life skills.

From mixing dough to slicing soft fruits or assembling simple dishes, children gain confidence in using child-safe tools and following step-by-step instructions. They learn where ingredients come from, how to work safely and hygienically, and the importance of collaboration and patience as they prepare and share their creations together.

In our Mindfulness sessions, children learn to slow down, breathe, and become aware of their thoughts, bodies, and surroundings through calming, hands-on activities. Each month, the class focuses on a theme such as kindness, emotions, or body awareness, guiding children to notice what they feel “on the inside” and how that connects to their actions “on the outside.”

Children take part in simple yet meaningful practices like breathing with pinwheels, listening to the sound of a bell, mindful movement, and sensory games that help them build focus, patience, and emotional regulation. Through guided reflection and storytelling, they begin to recognize and name their emotions, understand empathy, and practice caring for themselves and others.

In our Music & Movement sessions, children experience the joy of rhythm, sound, and motion through playful, hands-on exploration that nurtures self-expression and confidence. Each month, the class focuses on a specific musical concept such as rhythm, tempo, pitch, or expression, inviting children to listen, move, and create in ways that strengthen both body and mind.

Children sing, dance, and play instruments as they learn to follow a beat, express feelings through movement, and collaborate joyfully with peers. Through activities like Freeze Dance, Drum Circles, Animal Walks, and Scarf Dancing, children refine coordination, concentration, and social connection, developing a lasting appreciation for music and the joy of movement.

In our Physical Education sessions, children build gross motor skills, strength, coordination, and confidence through active play and structured movement. In partnership with Rugby Tots, the program introduces children to fun, age-appropriate activities that develop balance, agility, and teamwork in an encouraging and supportive environment.

Each month focuses on a different skill or sport, allowing children to explore a variety of movement patterns such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching. Alongside physical development, the sessions reinforce positive values like cooperation, respect, and perseverance.
